ohana means family and all that jazz
[How did this happen? Dirk doesn't know, but hey, he's just a kid. All he knows is that his family has grown from just being Bro and Dave to so many more people.
And it's really nice.
Even if it's different because there are people everywhere always, omg.]
(OOC: go crazy with this.)

You made me looooose.
[But deep down, does he care? Not really. This kid enjoys attention too much.]

[He shifts to lay on his side so he can face the TV, though he's still sprawled across Dirk.]
That movie was so fucking lame, Littlefoot can suck it.

[Have a playful elbow.]

[He reaches up and ruffles Dirk's hair.]
no subject
[Stop that. Instead of actually trying to fix his hair, he just has this stupid grin on his face. It's disgusting.]
no subject
[Well, that was lame, but he lets out a laugh at his own joke anyway, not to mention the doofy grin on Dirk's face.]
What game are you playing?
no subject
[Why, you ask? Because his mun isn't a gamer and has only played games like these, stfu.]
I'm trying to get 100% completion on expert mode.
no subject
Oh no, I totally made you lose against Sephiroth, didn't I?
no subject
Yeah. And I'm trying to beat him so I can unlock the full ending. Rude, Da---Dirk.
no subject
[Wait. It hits him what just happened. He didn't even realize, he wasn't even paying attention, but then... Then it hits him and the feeling is kind of... indescribable for the moment, but he freezes and his mouth hangs open slightly. It's a long few seconds before he can find his voice]
W-what?
no subject
What?
no subject
[He isn't sure if that is what Dirk had almost called him, but... well. It sounded like it. He just doesn't want to assume.]
no subject
It was an accident.
no subject
[He sounds hesitant, but only because this has never come up. A part of him almost sounds... hopeful, though? Because... he's...
Always wanted to feel worthy of being a dad.]
no subject
But is that really okay? It's... not bad?
no subject
I'd kinda... I mean. I just... I think I'd like it.
[He knows he would like it. That's the difficult part, because a part of him deep down feels kind of bad because of David. But... he's wanted to be called dad for... a long time now. He just hasn't said anything. He feels like he blew his chance for that when he told Dave to keep calling him Bro.]
no subject
That's also why he's afraid.]
Do you think he'd be made about it?
no subject
So it's the selfishness that makes him sound perfectly casual and confident.]
Nah, I think he'd be totally cool with it.
no subject
Instead of responding right away, he rolls over until he's able to latch onto Bro and give him an awkwardly positioned hug.]
Okay...
Dad.
[And this is ok, because he was a spoilt brat and usually called David "Daddy" to his face. This is different. It's okay.]
I just. I dunno if I can continually do it yet. Or I might slip up. But it's not really like I haven't thought about it before. I just don't know.
[He is the worst mumbler. Hopefully he can be understood.]

When Dirk speaks, the butterflies just sort of explode in his stomach and he lets out a happy little laugh. It just... feels so good to hear it, like. He doesn't even know. It's just the best thing ever, because... he's always felt unworthy of it. Like being a dad was just a huge honour that he never lived up to.
And now he was, and it just. It's enough to make him wanna cry. Tears actually do come to his eyes, and a lump rises in his throat.]
Shhh... It's okay. It's really, really okay. Whatever's easiest for you, I just...
[He breaks off has to swallow, otherwise he would start crying. The tears do come a little more and a couple roll down his cheeks. When he speaks, it's a whisper that Dirk can only barely hear.]
Thank you...
no subject
And in a way, it just really helps.
He knows no one else is ever going to be able to replace David. It's impossible, especially when Dirk only really has good memories of him now. They're on a pedestal that no one else can reach. But this is good for him too. Because nothing beats this sense of belonging he feels right now. It makes him cling to his uncle even tighter.]
I love you.
[It's not even something they say a lot, at least directly. But Dirk just really wants him to know.]
